![]() I know many have preconceptions, but I also hope they give the movie a fair chance. The picture opens on February 7, 2020.Birds of Prey releases this weekend, and while I was originally not interested – and you guys know I’m a huge Birds of Prey fan – the latest media, feedback, and interviews has me rather excited. The cast also includes Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as The Huntress, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, Ewan McGregor as Roman Sionis/Black Mask, and Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz. Margot Robbie stars as Harley Quinn, and also served as an executive producer. ‘Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)’ was directed by Cathy Yan, with a script by Christina Hodson. Just how extensively these are can vary, however. There is nothing wrong with reshoots in general. Even though the very mention of “reshoots” seems to terrify fans, almost every movie requires them. So the audience test screening for Birds of Prey had people raving about it and the internal WB test screening seemingly had the opposite effect. Colbert reported (via Twitter) that the test screening audience was “raving about it” but that the execs at WB hate it. Reportedly, a first cut of ‘Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)’ has been completed and screened for a test audience and executives at Warner Bros.
